The Seoul Drone Light Show is one of the most memorable ways to experience the Han River at night. Instead of seeing Seoul only through palaces, shopping streets, or cafes, this event lets you watch the city turn its night sky into a moving canvas of light.
Held along the Hangang River, the 2026 Hangang Drone Light Show features 1,200 to 2,000 drones creating large-scale images, characters, patterns, and stories above the river. It is free to watch, easy to combine with an evening picnic, and especially useful for travelers looking for a night activity that feels distinctly Seoul.

Why You Should Watch the Seoul Drone Light Show
Many first-time visitors ask the same question: where is the best place to enjoy Seoul at night? There are many possible answers, but the Han River is one of the most iconic. During the Seoul Drone Light Show, that answer becomes even clearer.
This is not just a technical drone demonstration. It is a large-scale light performance that combines music, storytelling, Seoul’s riverside scenery, and thousands of drones moving in perfect formation. For about 15 minutes, the night sky above the Han River becomes a screen made of light.
The show is especially attractive because it is free. There is no ticket, no reserved seat, and no complicated booking process. You simply arrive at the right Han River park, find a viewing spot, and wait for the sky to light up.
For travelers, this makes the event easy to add to a Seoul itinerary. You can spend the afternoon in Seongsu, Seoul Forest, or Yeouido, then finish the day with a riverside picnic and the drone show.

Best Viewing Spots Along the Han River
The best place to watch the Seoul Drone Light Show depends on the date and official venue. For the clearest view, go to the park where the performance is officially scheduled for that session.

Ttukseom Hangang Park
Ttukseom is the strongest choice for most visitors, especially because several 2026 sessions are scheduled there. It has wide grassy areas, convenience stores, cafes, and easy access from Seongsu and Seoul Forest.
The nearest subway access depends on the viewing area, but Ttukseom Resort Station and Jayang Station are the most commonly used stations for visitors heading to the drone show.
If you are already planning to visit Seongsu or Seoul Forest, this is the easiest venue to combine with a daytime course. You can shop around Seoul Forest first with my Seoul Forest shopping guide, then walk or take a short ride toward the riverside before sunset.
Yeouido Hangang Park
Yeouido is the best choice if you want the Seoul skyline in the background. The view feels more urban, with high-rise buildings, bridges, and the river all visible in one frame.
This area is especially beautiful around sunset. Arrive before the sky turns dark, bring a small picnic mat, and watch the city lights slowly come on before the drone show begins.
Jamsil Hangang Park
Jamsil is a good option for travelers who want a more open riverside atmosphere. The area feels spacious, and the view toward Lotte World Tower gives the show a very different mood from Yeouido or Ttukseom.
The May 5 performance is especially notable because it is scheduled as a Children’s Day Star Wars-themed show with 2,000 drones.
What the Drone Light Show Feels Like in Person
The atmosphere before the show is almost as important as the show itself. People arrive with picnic mats, snacks, drinks, and takeout food. Some come as couples, some with children, and many simply sit on the grass waiting for the river to get darker.
At 20:30, the first lights rise into the sky. At first, they look like small glowing dots. Then the music begins, and the dots start moving together. Within seconds, the sky becomes a formation of shapes, letters, characters, waves, and abstract patterns.
The most impressive part is the scale. When 1,200 to 2,000 drones move at once, the effect is much larger than it looks in photos. It feels like a piece of moving digital art suspended above the river.
Many people try to film the entire show, but the best moment is often when you put the phone down for a few seconds. The lights, music, river breeze, and crowd reactions make it feel much more immersive in person.
The show itself is short, but that is part of the appeal. For 15 minutes, the entire park looks in the same direction. When the final formation appears, applause usually spreads across the grass almost naturally.
Essential Tips Before You Go
Arrive Early
For popular sessions, try to arrive at least 90 minutes to two hours before the drone show. The main show starts at 20:30, but good grass spots can fill up much earlier.
Use Public Transportation
Driving is not recommended. Parking around Han River parks is limited, and traffic can be heavy before and after major events.
- Ttukseom: Jayang Station, Line 7
- Yeouido: Yeouinaru Station, Line 5, or Yeouido Station, Lines 5 and 9
- Jamsil: Jamsil Station, Lines 2 and 8, or nearby riverside access depending on the exact viewing area
If you are new to Seoul’s subway system, read my T-money card guide for Seoul before your trip.
Bring a Picnic Mat
A picnic mat or small foldable cushion makes the experience much more comfortable. Many people sit directly on the grass, but the ground can feel cold or damp after sunset.
Check the Weather
Drone shows are sensitive to rain and strong winds. Even if the sky looks clear in the afternoon, check the official website and Instagram on the day of your visit.

Expect Crowds After the Show
The biggest crowd usually happens after the show ends. Subway entrances, crosswalks, and nearby convenience stores can become crowded very quickly. If you do not need to rush, stay seated for 15 to 20 minutes and let the crowd move first.
How to Make It a Full Seoul Night Course
The Seoul Drone Light Show works best when you build it into a full evening course. Instead of arriving only for the 15-minute show, spend the afternoon nearby and move slowly toward the river.
For a Ttukseom Show
Start around Seoul Forest or Seongsu in the afternoon, visit a few shops, then head toward Ttukseom Hangang Park before sunset. My Seoul Forest shopping guide is a good match for this route.
For a More Local Evening
If you want a more relaxed neighborhood mood before or after the show, the Sangsu and Hapjeong local course pairs well with a Han River night plan.
For a Seasonal Seoul Trip
If you are visiting in spring, the drone show can also be part of a broader seasonal itinerary. For more event ideas, check my May music festival guide in Seoul.
For a Cafe Before the Show
If you prefer a slower evening, stop by one of Seoul’s terrace cafes before heading to the river. My terrace cafes in Seoul guide is useful if you want a more atmospheric pre-show plan.
A Night in Seoul You Should Experience at Least Once
The Seoul Drone Light Show is one of those events that feels simple on paper but much more powerful in person. It is free, easy to access, and only lasts for a short time, but the combination of the Han River, music, city lights, and thousands of drones makes it feel like a very Seoul-specific experience.
If you are visiting Seoul between April and June 2026, this is one of the easiest night activities to add to your itinerary. It works for families, couples, solo travelers, and anyone who wants to see the city from a different angle.
During the day, Seoul may be about palaces, shopping streets, cafes, and neighborhoods. At night, the Han River shows another side of the city. The drone show is one of the clearest examples of that shift.
